SHEEP SALES AND FARM TOURS IN THE ENGLISH LAKE DISTRICT | UK & EUROPE
The Hebridean is a rare breed of Northern short tail sheep which is excellent at thriving in all weathers, making it ideal for the Lake District. The ewes make great mothers, yielding plenty of milk and producing high quality lambs. Hebridean Sheep are good for controlling brush and weeds.
The breed originated from Scotland and were often formerly known as "St Kilda" sheep. They have black, coarse wool, which fades to brown in the sun and often becomes grey with age. They have no wool on the face or legs. Mayson has been successfully breeding Hebridean Sheep at Downthwaite Head Farm in the Lake District for a number of years.
Dowthwaite Head Farm breeds and sells a wide variety of sheep including Hebrideans. Please contact us if you are interested in buying Hebridean Sheep or any other breeds of sheep, as we can acquire any rare breed of sheep.
